1943년 밀워키 출신인 그들은 유년시절 텍사스에서
성장하면서 이미 12살에 블루스 밴드를 조직하여
활동할 정도로 기타에 뛰어난 재능을 보여주었다.
그리고 기타의 대가들인 레스 폴, 척 베리를 비롯하여
블루스의 명인들인 머디 워터즈, 버디 가이, 마이크
블룸필드등과 함께 연주한 그야말로 어린 나이에 기타
하나로 평정한 비범한 기타리스트로 인정받게 되었다.
이후 '66년 백인 소울의 대가인 보즈 스케그즈와
함께 그룹 Steve Miller Blues Band를 결성하여
70년대 초반까지 활동하지만 대중적인 인기를 얻지 못하고
보즈 스케그즈가 탈퇴하고 팀을 재정비한 그는
결국 장르를 블루스에서 록으로 바꾸면서
그룹명을 그냥 Steve Miller Band라고 부르게 되었답니다.
미국 밴드로 영국에서 성공한 70년대 최고의
록 밴드 스티브 밀러 밴드 보통 80년대 넘버원곡인
Abracadabra,Serenade가 제일 유명하고 70년대 중반의 The Joker나
Rock'n' Me나 Fly Like An Eagle 등이 많이 듣는 곡이지만 이들의
초기작도 꼭 들어보길 권하고싶다.
