Louis Armstrong에 의해 처음 불려진 St. James Infirmary는 오래 전의 블루스 싱어들뿐
아니라 60년대이후노래 한다는 가수들이 앞다퉈 부른것으로 전해지지만 팩트는 다릅니다.
루이 암스트롱이 부른것은 맞지만 기존의 구전으로 전해져 오는 내용과는 다릅니다.
1928 년 녹음에서 유명한 노래를 만들었고, Don Redman 이 작곡 했지요.
구전으로는 성병에 걸린 남자 친구를 탓하는 대용이 전해지고. 또 다른 내용은 스파이 가
병원으로 걸어가며 사랑하는 여인을 그리는 내용으로 전해 집니다.
수많은 버젼이 존재 하는것도 맞습니다. 다만..기존의 원곡.구전으로 전해지던 노래와는
다르게 현재 듣는 분들의 입맛에 맞게 ..해피 엔딩을 좋아하는 마음약한 분들의 위해
바뀌고 바뀌어서 ..지금도 바뀔겁니다.리듬은 같지만 노래 가사는 다른.가사가 전해 질지도
모릅니다.이노래는 Blues Underground 의 노래가 가장 많이 알려졌습니다.
