그의 데뷔 앨범 인 Song of Leonard Cohen 에 실렸습니다.

이 노래는 1960 년 Cohen이 그리스의 Hydra 섬에서 만난 Marianne Ihlen의
마리안 젠슨 (Marianne Jensen)이 영감을 얻었습니다.
코헨은 자신이 만난 적이있는 가장 아름다운 여성이라고 했지요.
그녀는 그녀의 남편, 노르웨이 작가 Axel Jensen 이 , 그녀와 그들의 6 개월 된 아들을 혼자서
섬에 남겨 두었습니다.
두 사람은 그것에 충격을 받았고 Cohen은 그녀를 Hydra 에서 노르웨이 오슬로 의 집으로 데려갔습니다.
