1980년대 중반 정말 혜성과 같이 나타난 신예 밴드가 있었다.
이당시 록씬은 L.A메탈이 주름잡던 시기 였고, 각종 차트나 뮤직차트에서
헤비메탈 밴드들이상위권에 포진 되었던 시절. 그런 수많은 밴드들이 활동하고
성황 이었던 시기에 그틈을 비집고 순식간에 록팬들의 마음을 휘어잡은 밴드가 있다.
바로 신데렐라( Cinderella )가 그 주인공.
정말 신데렐라 동화속의 이야기처럼, 록씬에 신데렐라처럼 등장한 신데렐라 이다
미국 동부 필라델피아 출신이지만 L.A메탈의 중심에서 활약했던 그룹. 더 정확히 말하자면
신델레라를 헤어메탈, 글렘메탈 밴드라고도 말한다.
이런 칭호들은 사실 외모와 비쥬얼을 강조한 용어이기도 하다. 수많은 여성팬들의
마음을 녹혔던밴드중 신데렐라가 단연 으뜸이었다. 하지만 여기서 우리가 알아야 부분,
아니 이미 알고 있는 부분이 있다.
신데렐라가 단순히 외모와 비쥬얼 측면에서만 강조한 밴드가 아니라는것이다.
음악적 뿌리가 탄탄한 음악성과 실력을 겸비했던 밴드가 또한 신데렐라이다.
록팬들이 다 알다시피 뉴저지 팝메탈의 제왕 본 조비의 발탁으로 성공 가도를 달리게 되었지만,
클럽에서 연주하는 신델레라의 모습을 보고 당시 록씬의 절대자로 불리우는 존 본 조비의 마음을
순식간에 뿅가게 만든 그룹이다. 어느 그룹 못지않게 진한 블루수록의 향취가 느껴지는 밴드가
바로 신데렐라 이다.
