Krypteria
독일 쾰른 출신의 4인조 록밴드 크립테리아(Krypteria)..
그 중심에는 ‘붉은 악마’를 연상시키는 핏빛 드레스를 입고
전지현처럼 검고 긴 머리를 휘날리며 무대를 압도하는
재독한인 2세 리드보컬인 조지인(Ji-In Cho)이 있다.
클래식을 전공한 조지인의 노래와 피아노 연주는
광폭하게 휘몰아치는 헤비메탈의 굉음 사이를 뚫고
독특한 카리스마를 발산한다.
독일로 파견된 광부와 간호사를 각각 아버지와 어머니로 두고 있는
조지인이 헤럴드경제와의 이메일 인터뷰를 통해
한국인으로서의 강한 자부심을
가지고 있다고 한다.
크로스오버락밴드 크립테리아는
90년대 초반 Christoph Siemons(기타/키보드)와
Frank Stumvoll(베이스/보컬),
그리고 S.C. Kuschnerus(드럼/보컬)의 라인업으로 출발해
한국인 프론트우먼 조지인이 가세한 04년에야
비로소 그 완성을 보게 된다.
Christoph의 역량이 돋보인 싱글 'Liberatio'로
독일 차트 3위까지 랭크되며 유명해진 밴드는
곧바로 정규앨범 제작에 들어갔고 05년 여름,
EMI사를 통해 데뷔작 [In Medias Res]를 발매하고
세계 팝/락씬에 당당히 출사표를 던졌다.
이례적으로 서양 락밴드의 프론트를 맡은 한국계
여성 조지인(Ji-In Cho)은 쾰른 음대에서
피아노, 클래식, 보컬 공부를 체계적으로
연마한 실력파로 밴드내 대부분의 피아노 세션은 그녀가 소화한다
