햄릿 : 사느냐 죽느냐 그것이 문제이다. 난폭한 운명의 돌팔매와 화살을 참고 견디거나,
아니면 고통의 큰물결을 무기로 맞닥뜨려 끝내 버리는, 그 어느 것이 더 떳떳한 생각일까?
죽는다는건 잠잔다는 것이다 - 그것뿐이다.
잠들면 마음의 아픔과 육체가 겪는 수많은 충격이
끝난다고 말한다. 이야말로 진심으로 바라는 결말이다. 죽는다는건 잠잔다는것,
잠들면 꿈을 꾸겠지 - 아, 여기서 걸리는구나. 이 필멸의 육신이 고리를 벗을 때,
죽음의 꿈속에서 어떤 꿈이 꿔질까 하는 그것이 기필코 우릴 망설이게 한다.

유령 : 나는 네 아비의 혼령이다. 밤에는 일정한 시간동안 어둠속을
헤매 다니고, 밤에는 불에싸여 탄식하며 생전에 저지른 악행이 타서
깨끗해지기를 기다려야 하는 것이 내 운명이야.
연옥의 비밀은 말할수 없다만 말을 한다면 당장에 네 영혼은 두려움에 오그라들고,
네 젊은 피는 얼어붙을 것이며, 두 눈은 유성처럼 눈구멍에서 튀어나오고,

햄릿: 진정으로 위대한 행위에는 물론 그만큼 훌륭한 명분이 따라야
하지만 남자의 명예에 관계될 때는 지푸라기만한 문제라도 당당히 싸워야 한다.
그런데 나는 이 무슨 꼴인가? 아버지는 살해되고, 어머니는 더럽혀지고,
이만하면 이성과 피가 분기할 만도 한데 잠재우고 있으니, 창피한
노릇이다. 보라, 저것을. 2만 군졸이 코앞에 닥친 죽음을 향해 가고 있지
않은가. 환상같은 허망한 명예를 찾아 마치 잠자리에라도 가듯 무덤을
찾아가고 있지 않은가. 대군이 자웅을 가릴 수도 없는 조그만 땅,
전사자를 묻을 무덤으로 쓰기에도 모자라는 조그만 땅을 위하여. 아,
이제부터 내 마음은 피비린내 나는 일만 생각하리라. 그 밖에는 아무런
가치도 없으리라!
